Another day behind my desk!
Lately, I’ve been deep in the middle chapters—the part of the book where everything tightens, darkens and starts to shift beneath Kim’s feet. Middles are always the hardest for me. They’re where the characters start the journey of decisions I didn’t always plan for.
Kim is no exception. The more I write her, the more she surprises me. Scenes I thought would be simple have turned into emotional knots, and moments I expected to skim past have become some of the most powerful in the story. It’s exhausting in the best way—like uncovering a truth I didn’t realise I’d been circling.
I’ve also been refining the supernatural threads that weave through these chapters. The lore is becoming clearer, the stakes sharper, and the relationships more tangled. It’s the point in the process where the world stops feeling like something I’m inventing and starts feeling like something I’m discovering.
Progress is slow, but it’s steady. And every time a chapter finally clicks into place, it reminds me why I love this work—why I keep returning to the page, even on the days when the words fight me.
I’ll keep sharing these moments as they come, the highs and the stumbles, because they’re all part of shaping Kim’s journey—and mine as a writer.
