Finding the heart of the next chapter!
Some weeks in the writing process feel like a sprint; others feel like slow, deliberate steps through fog. Lately, I’ve been in that fog — not lost, but moving carefully, paying attention to the details that shape Kim Mirabella’s world. This stage of the journey isn’t about word count; it’s about clarity. It’s about understanding why a scene matters, not just what happens in it.
I’ve been revisiting a few key chapters, peeling back layers to find the emotional truth beneath them. Kim is changing, and so is the way I write her. She’s stepping into darker territory, confronting parts of herself she’s avoided, and that shift demands more from me as the storyteller. It’s not enough to describe her choices — I need to feel them with her.
There’s a strange kind of magic in this part of the process. The story slows down, but the world deepens. I find myself scribbling notes about motivations, rewriting dialogue until it hits the right emotional tone, and letting scenes breathe in ways they didn’t before. It’s work that doesn’t always show on the surface, but it strengthens everything underneath.
As I move forward, I’m focusing on the tension between who Kim thinks she is and who she’s becoming. That conflict is the heartbeat of the book, and every chapter I refine brings me closer to capturing it the way it deserves.
Thank you for following along as this story grows and shifts. Writing isn’t a straight line — it’s a series of discoveries — and I’m grateful to share each step with you.
